Kymberley-vhairi, after-school childcare - G3 Glasgow

My name is Kymberley Vhairi and i am 19 years old i am a student at City Of Glasgow College. When i was younger i was placed in foster care and childrens homes due to my biological family not being able to look after me and then went on to get adopted and my mother is still a foster carer now. I feel through this life experience that it has made me grow as a person and become a lot more understanding to childrens needs and wants, it has helped me to engage with children as i have had to baby sit up to four children at a time and they have varied from age to age one could be a new born baby where others could be a toddler and others could be nearer twelve years of age. with the children the games and activities that i play with the children again vary with their ages from young newborns i find they sleep and eat a lot so quietly sitting and softly singing lullaby's are best in my opinion with children between one and three i feel sorting games and reading and fun stimulating games are best for their development. with children between four and seven again i feel reading and colouring and building materials are a good way for them to spend their time. for children between eight and eleven i feel more active sports are best so playing football or netball or more sctivly based sports are found to keep the children engaged better. Through my life experiences i feel it makes me a fun cheerful understanding and positive role model for children to be around.
