Kate, after-school childcare in Fareham

My name is Kate, I am 18 years old and am currently taking a year out from college to build up an art portfolio and get some part time work. This means that although I can only dedicate part time hours, I can be very flexible with times and days.

I have done a year on a level 3 child care course where I got a Distinction**. I have worked unpaid in 3 childcare settings of varying ages and I also have babysitting experience with family members and friends children up to the ages of early teens. I have always loved working with children and feel as though I am effective at planning activities and games and keeping children entertained while setting boundaries that parents are comfortable with and creating a fun environment. I have 8 GCSE's (5 A's (inc. English and maths), 3 B's & 1C) so I feel as though I would be able to help children in both primary and secondary school with their studies being competent and able enough to look up anything that I did not understand myself.

I unfortunately can not drive although I am always willing to take children on walks or to a local park in order to get fresh air and outdoor time. Or take public transport.

Being quite artistic, I know a lot of art based activities with painting, sand, glitter and pompom glue sculptures and I know all children have different interests and therefore am well practised in lots of different games including outdoor activities, puzzles and intellectual games.

I am able to prepare food and cook meals as I have experience with preparing snack times at nurseries and have made meals when babysitting. I have previously worked in a care home specialised in dementia where I worked as a cleaner so I am also able to keep things tidy and hygienic and do any house hold chores or help out if required.

I feel that I am good at creating relationships and bonds with children by getting to know their interests and personalities and I try to engage with them as much as I can in order to create trust and allow them to feel comfortable.
