My name is Gill, I am 26 years old and have two boys aged 6 and 4, I am currently studying towards a degree in childhood and youth studies. I also volunteer in my sons school this puts me in a good position to support with homework and preschool learning. I am also working as a home volunteer for the charity Home-Start which gives me valuable experience for a position as a mother's help.
As you can probably tell from this I enjoy working with children and families, I hope to go into family support work when I am qualified. I think that family is the most precious and most complicated thing in the world and everyone needs a bit of help sometimes.
As well as trying to get outaide as often as poasible to explore the world I like to play creatively with children and encourage them to develop their imaginations. I try to encourage children to guide games in line with their own interests as this will be more fun and rewarding for them than following an adults script. I try to encourage learning through play and am a firm believer that praise and encouragement will get the best from a child.
I am a calm, patient person with a good sense of humour which I find helps me when dealing with any behaviour issues. I am comfortable with children of all ages but most enjoy working with under fives because they are so eager to understand new things and share their excitement.
I enjoy cooking and will happily help out with light household chores and always make sure a space is tidy before I leave it.
Occasional babysitting | $7.50 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $6.00 per hour |
As I would expect part time care to be a more steady and reliable job than babysitting I feel comfortable charging slightly less.
