Hello, my name is Beth , I am 18 years old and I am currently on a gap year. Having just finished my A Levels in English Language, English Literature and Sociology I am preferably looking for some part time work before I go off to the University of Nottingham in September 2018 to study Sociology/English Language. I currently work as a Duty Manager of a sports centre within a private school where I have been responsible for opening up and locking up the centre, cashing up, dealing with customers and customer complaints and organising meetings. Additionally, for the past two years, during the school holidays, I have worked on the holiday activity schemes, looking after, supervising, supporting and playing with children from the ages of 4-13. I also have been lucky enough to work with children in swimming lessons as I have recently qualified as a level 1 swim teacher assistant and will be hopefully qualified as a level 2 swim teacher in late October. I also have experience working with older children as I have tutored three students in GCSE English language and literature. As Head Girl of a school of around 1, 600 students, I have been working with children from the ages of 11-18 but also with adults which I hope has allowed me to be able to interact comfortably with a range of people.
Having experience with large groups of children, I have been accustomed to keeping them within safe boundaries as well as making sure they're all having fun and enjoying the activities we present them with. I have also worked with smaller groups of children as I have experience babysitting children around the ages of 8-11. Additionally, I have a big family with many younger cousins meaning I've also been in regular contact with young children. I enjoy children's company and being energetic and enthusiastic myself, I like to think I'd motivate and entertain them! Having worked with a broad range of children, I have learnt to cater to different capabilities as well as their different interests meaning I can easily adapt activities to a range of individuals, from sports activities such as relay races and dodgeball to party games and quizzes!
I also like to think that I am very committed and dedicated to what I pursue, which has likely derived from being a competitive swimmer at national, regional and county levels. I trained up to eight sessions per week meaning time management became natural as I was increasingly able to juggle education, training and a social life.
I hope this gives you an insight into my life and experience in working with children and that you consider my application regarding any part time work.
Thank you and I'll look forward to hearing from you,
Beth
