My name is Emma, I love the career I have chosen and as such I am motivated, dedicated, organised, initiative and reliable.
I have 11 years of child care experience; I have worked hard to gain good qualifications and have been lucky enough to work with ages 0-18+ years and with a wide range of abilities.
My two main qualifications are BA (HONS) Early Childhood Studies and Level 3 Diploma in Playwork, I also have attended many smaller proffessional development courses such as Consulting With Children. In addition I have a current DBS, paediatric first aid and Public Liability Insurance. All certificates are available to view.
I knew from a young age I wanted a career in childcare so I went straight to college and completed my Diploma in Child Care and Education passing with AAB. Within the course I did lots of short term work experience placements in different child care settings.
I then completed my BA (HONS) Early Childhood Studies degree achieving a 2:1. Whilst there I completed some optional work experience including some work in a respite care centre.
My first full time job after university was a playscheme manager; aswell as mainstream children we specialised in providing places for children with additional physical, behavioural and emotional needs. As manager I worked in the day as a playworker with children 4-14 years; planning and providing activities and observing, and at night and term time I completed the necessary paperwork. The post was created because the setting had been graded Inadequate by OFSTED and needed a new manager to make improvements; within 3 months of managing the playscheme it was graded Good; two steps up from where it had been.
Shortly after I was asked to start managing a new afterschool club for children aged 4 -12 years; as before I worked directly with the children during afterschool club hours and completed paperwork in my own time. Unfortunately the lack in committee funds eventually closed the afterschool club.
I then went on to a nursery nurse job, initially as a go between job. I worked mainly in the baby and toddler room but occasionally was needed in the pre-school room. Unfortunately I had long term sick leave from this post for 18 months, within which time my contract came to an end.
When I recovered I started in my current role as an OFSTED registered nanny for twins (4 months when I started, now 3 years) aswell as occasionally their older siblings. I enjoy planning activities to suit the children and complete EYFS folders for them. I also babysit for other families, of which references are available.
