Lauren, au pair in Brockworth

Hi my name is Lauren. I am 29 and have 13 years experience of working with young children. I have worked in nurseries since my very first ever school work experience allowed me to realise my passion for child development and the importance of the early years. I went on to complete a BA Hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Gloucestershire where I furthered my knowledge and understanding of how children develop and learn from birth. I worked in three different nurseries over the next 10 years and have looked after all ages from birth to 5 years. I have been a room leader of a baby room, toddler room and pre-school and have lots of experience of planning and carrying out age/stage appropriate activities to help individual Childrens development. I relocated to Wales 3 years ago and took on a role as an Early Language Support worker where I gained in depth knowledge and experience of working with children with speech delay and also supporting the development of typically developing children ages 0-4. I have become increasingly interested in the importance of early language skills and believe it is vital for children to gain good communication skills from an early age to be able to learn and develop throughout life. I have been using bespoke programmes to help children develop both understanding and use of language for the past 2 1/2 years so have lots of ideas to plan play-based activities for the children in my care. I believe children should learn through stimulating and varied play opportunities but that they also need lots of warmth and cuddles too. I am looking for a full time care position but am flexible with hours and living arrangements. I delivered a baby group called "let's talk with your baby" in my previous role and toddler groups called "talking tots" and "language and play" so have lots of ideas and resources for play based opportunities for children of all ages. I also have experience of working with children with recognised speech delay so can tailor play to suit each child.
