Laura, au pair in Esh winning DH7

Hello, my name is Laura and I am a 23 year old English Literature and Creative Writing graduate who has recently came back from a solo trip around the world! I love working with young people and would love to find a full time job in childcare. I have grown up with older and younger siblings so love being surrounded by family and understand the importance of a nurturing, safe, stimulating environment for young children to grown and learn in and would always strive to achieve this for anyone in my care. I wish to find a job that allows me to feel fulfilled and is also challenging and varied! I have had a number of years experience working with and caring for children having taken care of a friends two young children (now aged 6 and 10) throughout school holidays for the past 5 years. I have also spent a great deal of time volunteering in a local primary school, working with children in the junior school on their reading and writing. I have assisted on school trips in which I took responsibility for a small group of children for the day. I have also helped in the preparations of events such as school plays and after school clubs.
Furthermore I am a Chaperone at the local theatre at the Gala Durham so take care of children aged 5-17 during rehearsals and performances by ensuring they are ready and at the side of stage on time. I pride myself on ensuring that the children are enjoying their stage school experience and are never overworked or unhappy. Consequently I have a good awareness and experience of child health and safety and have had to deal with difficult unexpected situations on a number of occasions.
