From a young age I have had experience with looking after and caring for children; I have babysat for many families, had sole charge of younger children within a professional environment and child-minded on a regular basis for a family friend. I have since worked professionally in childcare for several holiday companies, providing fun and safe activities for children of all ages.
The age range of children who I have had the pleasure of working with, has been from 15 months to 18 years, so I have a large amount of experience with different age ranges. Throughout my different job roles, I have worked with children with several different disabilities - these have ranged from autism, cerebral palsy and global development delay, to ADHD and dyslexia.
I am one of 6 children, so coming from a large family background I have always loved being energetic and thinking of new fun things to do! I have learned a great deal about compromising and sharing within the family, as well as team-work, self-reliance and responsibility. Being the second oldest I helped my mother with my younger siblings a lot; I would take them to the park, feed them, change them, discipline them when necessary and I really enjoyed being an important character in their lives.
I think this has had a big effect on how I am as a person now, in the way that I have always been very mature as I have had responsibilities from a young age, I am dependent and flexible and strive to ensure positivity and happiness of the children/families I assist. I am very passionate about working with children and love to see them develop in their own ways!
