Hi I'm Matthew

A 31 year old guy who lives in Westbury Sub Mendip.

I have always loved working with children, family's and young people and believe my caring and compassionate nature shines through the work that I do.

I have extensive life experiance and qualifications which I believe in conjunction with my attitude and personality makes me an outstanding individual to help children and young people learn, grow and develop in a safe and fun environment.

During my social science diploma and Social Work degree I studied in detail child psychology and development. I found this is to be a useful asset as sometimes surface behaviour reflects something deeper going on and can help spot any issues early on.

I have worked with a range of children in youth centres and outreach programmes across the country where I quickly developed relationships, became a mentor and learnt hands on how to defuse challenging behaviour. During this time I also gained an NVQ working with young people and updated my first aid qualification.

For the last two years I have worked with individuals who have downs, autism, mental health and learning disabilities. During this period I have gained a lot of experiance and additional qualifications such as food hygiene, medication dispensing, autism, dealing with seizures and non abisive psychological and physical intervention.

I love children and babies. Growing up I would often help babysit for my younger cousins aged one and four. This involved everything from bath times to meal preparation and bedtime.

I volunteered at teddybears daycare nursery in Devon during my summer holiday In 2011. Instantly I had a good rapor with the children and enjoyed activities such as trips out to the beach and cooking programmes. I was offered a part time managers position in conjunction with an apprenticeship however due to a house move I got a job working for a private health care provider.

I have decided to reignite my passion for children and believe I would be a positive role model for any young person and hope that I'm given this opportunity.

I believe that for a child to develop successfully there needs to be a balance between all the areas of there life. For example everything from there physical and emotional well being to continued personal development, education and all forms of positive relationships.
