I've always loved working with children. I started my experience off working as a teaching assistant and a playgroup assistant for an apprenticeship.
Working in the playgroup I met a little boy with Autism. I was asked if I could do a 1:1 with him. I learnt the things he loves, the things he hates, what makes him smile. I learnt to care for this little boy with his complex needs. I learnt makaton (easy sign language) to help him with his communication.
I find working with children so easy and natural to do because I love it, I don't think of it as a job.
Babysitting 1-3 hours £7.50 per hour
Babysitting 3+ hours £6.50 per hour
If more than 2 children need to be looked after, hourly rate increases.
