I don't have babysitting qualifications nor actual baby sitting work experience, although I work as a nurse and I feel like I have some medical experience that MAY come handy. I don't have actual training/qualifications as a first aider, but I have both adult and child CPR trainings, which I think may be an added plus too. I love looking after children and I have looked after and cared (and still do so occasionally) for my nieces and nephews from babies to teens. I have lots of friends' children and godchildren here in the UK whom I have, and still have, looked after too - I.e. if my friends need to have a bit of a break or 'quality time' or both happens to have same shifts and they can't find a last-minute child care. I have offered and also have been asked if I can look after their children in these cases, which I always say I can (of course so long as I don't have work). Some of these children I have looked after have even stayed the night over or what we call in a fun way for them as a 'sleepover' to their "auntie's" house. I usually make sure they get their fun time - like if they love watching the telly or playing with their games on their iPads or gadgets, but they know that they need to have a quiet time or serious time, like if they have to to do homework or if it's 'nap time'. With my young godchildren, a couple of them are 3 and 4 years old - and since I know them well already - I have this rapport with them & enjoy playing games with them. But they all know too when it's 'fun time' or meal time or just simply quiet-story telling time (these are the routines they usually prefer doing).
The reason why I wish to do some babysitting job are 1) I enjoy looking after children and if I can do some extra work, different from my usual nursing job, that'll be an added bonus for me 2) I am looking for something different, type of extra work that I can do for a few hours only for a coup, e of days a week perhaps.
The extent of my experience only - in all honesty - as far as looking after children is when I looked after or cared for my niece and nephews and friends' children for a few hours in the day and sometimes even overnight, but only as a favour or help for them. I really don't have an actual experience in baby sitting on a professional (or paid work) capacity level. If a training is mandatory, I am very much willing to do so anyhow.
I did said that I can't help with the child's homework, and this is only because it depends on the homework if it's not too complex. And only because, although I don't mind really helping on this aspect, I just want to make sure that I am helping indeed and definitely knows that I am helping them correctly. With house chores, again it depends because I don't want it to take my attention away in looking after the children. If it's in my own house, for example, I am very familiar in every nook and corner of my place and I can do some chores and know confidently that the children I'm baby sitting is happy and safe. With someone else's house, I am obviously not familiar with every corner or rooms and that's a different matter. Hence I can only say that I CAN help or do some house chores but it depends.
Occasional babysitting | $13.00 per hour |
I'm looking for an extra, on-the-side kind of job. I can go for a pay rate between £10 -13, just to break even with my commute. I don't drive, so depending on the time I have to do - like if it's late evening - I may need to get a taxi.
