Tanya, baby sitter - CH42 Birkenhead

Hi, my name is Tanya and I qualified with a diploma (NNEB) in 1994.
I now have my own children age 13 (m) and 8 (F) and work full time as a personal advisor on the leaving Care team for 18- 24 year olds! And I am looking for casual/part time work to raise some extra funds to help boost our household income and what way better than to go back to my roots and childcare!
I am an open and honest person who takes much pleasure from caring for children and young people and helping them thrive and develop their owns skills and personalities. I am firm and believe in good behavior and manners, fun and adventure and exploration. I have a strong sense of belief in reading and the importance of education and music and languages. I have a good awareness of child development but at the same time recognize that each child is individual and will learn and develop at their own pace with good support and knowledge and a caring environment.
I love reading and singing to babies and young children and encourage older children to read to me, I enjoy having a go at outdoor games and exploring the local environment - beaches, woodland, parks and museums etc.
I am not very good with arts and crafts but enjoy scrapbooking activities and will happily join in attempts at the next Monet! I cant officially play an instrument but can do a little on the piano and recorder and would encourage any child or young person in their musical attempts.
I enjoy swimming - preferably the pool and not the sea!
Technology...... hmm, unfortunately there is no getting away from it so it is important that as adults we have a very strong awareness of what our children are accessing on the internet and the games they are playing and the only way to do that is to spend time doing it WITH them.... However, yet again I am firm in not encouraging children and young people to spend any significant amount of time on games and computers of this kind.
I believe in structure and routine and a good nights sleep for children and young teens with the ability to be flexible to enable families to step 'outside the box' when it comes to holidays, weekends and special occasions without the whole routine being disrupted.
I love animals from the small furry ones through to horses! Spiders and wasps are my weak points!
