I am a highly motivated student with a goal to succeed in anything I do. I am keen to work hard in order to fulfil any commitment. Every year of my secondary school career I have won awards for hard work and I have received many commendations. In school and sixth form I was usually chosen as leader in groups or told to take charge in many activities. I love a challenge and work well in different environments. I take a great interest with working with people and different cultures and languages. I taught year two children Spanish. During teaching these lessons I have shown that I am responsible young person after being put in charge of a group of young children. I believe this also showed my leadership skills, as I had to help organise the content of the lessons and delivery. I spent a month in Bolivia with 14 of my peers as part of world challenge, and raised over £4000 by myself to fund the visit. I have no doubt that participating in this trip enabled me to be more organised as I had a deadline to raise the money by. I really saw the value of working in a team when we all helped to renovate a school in a Bolivian village. I practised my leadership and problem solving skills during the expedition as plans often had to be changed due to health, budget and local climate. I learnt to ‘think on my feet’ whilst taking the role of ‘leader for the day’. I also used my previous knowledge of South American culture and language as an advantage in solving problems. I have completed bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh. I also took a lead role in planning a Christmas party of the elderly members of my community. I believe working with so many teenagers, young children and adults has given me experience in being efficient, and I have developed my communication skills further. I am great at working as part a team but not afraid to take a lead role.
