Hi, my name is Maia and I am 17 years old. I currently attend Wadham sixth form as part of my full time education where I am studying three A-levels; Psychology, Sociology and Geography, after which I intend to complete a university degree in something such as Childcare or Teaching and Learning. I am interested in understanding the brain and how people learn and grow up to become different and unique as their own individuals. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and the individual bonds that can be created between myself and other children.
I have three younger brothers (aged 6, 10, and 14) of which I have looked after the best I can from the moments they were born and I still help out today. I have just under two years experience in working in a childminding setting on a voluntary basis where I helped with the care of children, providing stimulating activities and observing their progress. I also helped with preparation of meals and keeping the setting clean and tidy. I also have a week of experience within a classroom of children aged 4-5 at Merriott First School where i supported the children by carrying out small activities with them. I observed how they interacted with their classmates, teachers, and myself through recognising the changes in their individual confidence, speech, and actions.
I have completed my paediatric first aid course at level 3.
I am looking for a part-time job around my education; I am in education from 8:30am until 3pm on a Monday to Friday, therefore I am available any time apart from these hours.
Occasional babysitting | $5.00 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $4.00 per hour |
I have set myself the minimum possible wage for babysitting as I am more interested in looking after children in order to expand my experience for future jobs rather than being in it for the money. The minimum wage for someone of my age is £4.05 an hour therefore I am happy to work from £4 an hour. I am not 'greedy' and am working for the benefit of my experience.
