Before I became a mother I was studying my AS Levels in Media Studies and Performing Arts. I was saddened that I was not able to continue with my studies due to my pregnancy; however I chose a different path in life. The confidence and team building skills I learned during that time have helped mold me into the person I am today, I am very eager to learn and take great interest in new challenges. As I still wanted to help others and felt I needed to use my time wisely during my pregnancy, I sought voluntary work, this took place in Barnardos book shop. My time there greatly improved my communication skills, building a rapport with customers and staff alike. It allowed me to gain a sense of responsibility as I was entrusted to open the shop on a few separate occasions. I pride myself on timekeeping and routine. In my own experience with having my daughter it has taught me so many different factors including educating, communicating, listening, catering for her needs, patience and perseverance. I would like to be able to use my experience to help another individual reach their full potential. Now that my daughter is settled in school and with my families support. I felt it was the right time in mine and my daughter's life to expand on my chosen career path, which I won't only enjoy but would also be beneficial to others.
I had been offered a place to study childhood and youth at the university south wales, Yet I decided to take a different avenue. I was also a brownie guide this helped me gain an insight in to working with children and also provided me with experience which has helped build confidence and will help me within any job. I have worked as an active LSA. The job required patience, understanding and gave me a great positive experience, it has allowed me to gain further skills and shown me first hand that I am able to work competently as part of a team or independently and it has shown me that I am willing to learn everyday and meet deadlines. I am passionate about the wellbeing and safeguarding of children and I hold a clear DBS.
