I started working as a babysitter three years ago, before that, I always looked after my little brother and cousins, as I am one of the eldest ones in the family! After-school nannying, homework help, teaching and volunteering are the roles I have covered throughout my experience.
- As an After-school nanny, I picked the children up from school, took them home and started working on the homework. Once the priority was completed, I arranged some activities with the children and plaid some games. Then, I helped them at shower time making sure everyone was ready and clean for dinner. In some occasions I cooked dinner, if the kid was very young I helped him eating. Finally, I took them to bed.
- As a teacher-nanny, I most likely did the same process as the previous one but including extra-classes. If the kid had trouble understanding a subject in school, I helped him/her understand it by explaining it in a different way. Sometimes, kids need some extra individual time of explanation as in class it can be hard for them to understand everything.
- As a volunteer, I volunteered several times at different schools and organizations to help families without resources. Teaching and organizing activities that also made them learn in a fun way. In many occasions I worked with disabled children, giving them my hand and support.
