A little about me.
At 59 (and counting !) you may consider me to be an older lady but I am a very active person and enjoy lots of walking on our wonderful Cornish beaches and pathways with my dog Paddy.
I simply love being with children and really enjoy helping them explore and understand the world. I like nothing better than treasure hunting on the beach or bug hunting in the woods, watching and sharing children's excitement when they find something special to them.
I have a passion for children's books and love to share a good story. I enjoy messy play, painting and junk modelling and even a bit of cooking, but I'm certainly no chef!
I am currently working as a part time nanny to two lovely children aged 8 and 10 years but have a wealth of childcare experience gained through my previous work as a teaching assistant.
For many years I supported children with special educational needs attending mainstream school. This gave me lots of experience and a better understanding of how dyslexia and other specific learning needs and/or physical disability can affect children's lives and learning.
A couple of years ago I completed a foundation degree in Integrated Children's Services. This really helped bring my knowledge up to date. For a few years I had been working in the independent education sector and had become rather out of touch with what was happening in state schools and with children's services generally.
I have a paediatric first aid certificate.
I am really looking for a family in need of a babysitter or maybe someone to nanny just one day a week. I'm happy to work early in the day or late into the evening.
If you'd like to know more about me or just want a chat please don't hesitate to get in touch.
