Hello, my name is Chloe and I'm a recent Royal Holloway University of London graduate. I studied Criminology and Psychology which has given me wonderful insight into the best ways to nurture, teach and care for children. Childhood is such an important time in terms of development and I believe all children should be given a healthy, happy start to their lives. This includes education, nutrition and play, all of which are vital.
I worked on a helpline for women and girls who are survivors of rape and sexual abuse for almost 2 years. The helpline was for females aged 13 and above, though I have spoken with younger children who did not give their age. This experience has only further enhanced my empathy towards children and has taught me how differently children react to stress and trauma, and how to handle this in appropriate ways.
Additionally, I have cared for children since I myself was a child. Their ages have ranged from new born to teenagers, including family friends' children and cousins. The care I provided included cooking, cleaning and playing with them. I play the guitar and have taught very basic chords to some of my younger family members, which was enjoyable for both of us.
I worked for a brief period as a helper at a Sunday School, mainly with very young children. I helped them with their art projects, reading, writing and play time.
I want to work with children as a career and believe this would be experience. I am fun, friendly and children seem to warm to me very quickly.
Thank you for reading this.
