I am determined, hard working and a compassionate person. I am sociable and love to work with people; I have a kind loving nature and love working with children as you always learn new things. Although I am only 22, I am mature and responsible, I have the ability to be able to play with children but be firm and fair. I am currently going into my second year at University of Leeds, where I am reading Childhood studies, to hopefully go onto teach children with educational behavioural difficulties.
I have volunteered at two primary schools; where I have learnt valuable skills such as patience, team work, mentoring and adapting to children’s different ways of learning. One of the primary schools is a specialist school for children with educational and behavioural difficulties. I have found this fascinating to see the development of the children and have enjoyed assisting teachers to hear children read and help with their math’s, english and science.
I have also gained work experience at our local nursery, shadowing room superiors.
This summer I have spent 3 months volunteering in Cambodia, teaching, living and running a summer holiday school to local children, who normally do not have the opportunity to go to school. This was one of the most amazing experiences, teaching English, arts and crafts and sports to children form 2-15. We also put on an end of summer play, designing customs, and acting out the wizard of Oz.
