Hi! I’m Elin, I’m 21, and I’m originally from the countryside in mid-Wales. I love music, animals, crafting, reading, writing & caring for the environment. I moved to Manchester in 2022 to attend the Royal Northern College of Music as a singer and pianist on the popular music course. Now in my fourth and final year, my contact hours are less. During the week I have a few lectures, lots of rehearsals with my band, lots of music admin for my releases, and gigs every few weeks. With a bit of free time, I’m trying to build some more experience as well as save to be able to continue making music post university. I feel that nannying and babysitting is a perfect role for me with my people skills, varied hobbies and my love for working with children.
I’ve spent the last few years working a few part time and cover teaching roles, such as being a mentor on the Young Artists program at RNCM (working with children 11-18 in band settings, giving them advice on their playing and supporting them), and cover teaching 1-1 piano lessons at The Music Shed in Eccles (children aged 7-18). I also have volunteered and worked with a youth theatre company in mid-Wales (young people aged 8-25) writing music, attending workshops, and helping backstage with costume and last minute nerves. In 2022 for about 6 months I also taught an 8 year old girl weekly half an hour piano lessons (1-1) in mid-Wales.
I’ve also grown up surrounded by kids, with a huge family and lots of young cousins (my dad has 9 siblings, all of whom have children & young grandchildren), and I’ve always been the big cousin who wants to play with them or offers to look after them while the adults need a break! In particular, my mum’s cousin lives in Huddersfield and has two young children (now aged 7 and 10). The 7 year old child has a genetic condition and so her development has been different: elements of her personality and physicality make her seem younger (around 3 years old). I have looked after the two children, reading stories to them, helping with bath time, playing with their toys (blocks, animals, musical instruments, crafts) and putting them to bed.
I love encouraging children (and everyone!) to be kind and positive, and to use their imagination as much as possible. I’m very happy to listen to/make music with the children, cook/bake, play outside, read, help with any homework, do arts & crafts activities, and lots more.
