Hello, I'm kirsty... A energetic person who has a passion for working with children. I am active and creative and loves to get "stuck in".
I am currently about to finish my college course at Filton College Brisol doing Level 3 Childcare and Education. I have completed and passed 5 placements in Nursery and Primary Schools, I am currently in a state nursery placement on Thursdays. My first placement was based in a primary School with children aged 7-8 years. Although I was placed as a student my role in the classroom was that of teacher assistant and support for all the children by assisting in the daily routines of the school day and planned activities for children. My second placement was in a state nursery with children aged 3-4 years old. I assisted in maintaining the daily routines of the nursery. I was given the opportunity to assist in Forest School. I have found I am able to connect positively with children from different ages and abilities. I enjoy observing the effects of simple activities, from art based projects to physical activities, on both a mental and physiological basis.
I am hard working and focussed and have received excellent comments from my work-placement supervisors and from my college tutors. Working as a team is something that I personally take joy in as it gives me opportunity to utilise and extend my communication skills, and develop inter-personal skills. I have done enrichment activities such Makaton, Forest school training and I am currently doing paediatric first aid. I have also helped to fundraise for the charity sense by doing a cake sale.
My studies have covered child development, safeguarding issues, professional practice, equity inclusion and diversity, and promoting a healthy environment for children.
From the 4th of August- 28th August 2014 I took part in National Citizen Service where I went on a residential trip for two weeks taking part in team activities this is beneficial when working with children because I have discovered different ways to build and maintain relationships. After, I spent two weeks doing a social action project with Avon Wildlife Trust. Also I participated in a community event called the “Big P” which encouraged children to connect with nature by doing different activities. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
