Hi, my name is Sarah. I have always wanted to work with younger children, I have grown up with children in my family, my younger cousin is disabled and we have a really close relationship.
I trained to be a hairdresser for 2 years and gained my NVQ2 qualification from it, but decided that I no longer wanted to carry on with it.
I then went on to do childcare, I worked in a private day nursery for 1 year. For the first 6 months I was training to be a Level 2 Nursery Nurse, but the college provider I was with messed me around a bit and I wasn't training for 4 months. My living arrangements quickly changed, I could no longer afford to be working on apprenticeship money (£3.30) even though I was not training.
In October, I decided I would rather work as a Nursery Assistant in the same nursery, as I did not need any qualifications for this. The director of the company said this was fine but I had to continue to work until December on the apprenticeship wage and I could start the Assistant role in January.
I felt I was being treated unfairly by him all the time, so I left there. So although I have no Childcare qualifications, I have 1 years experience in a day nursery. I also have my Paediatric First Aid.
I can help look after your child/ children and keep them safe in your home, if they sleep during the day, I can help get them to sleep. If they go to school, I can drop them off and pick them up if needed.
