I did my volunteering work in child care for 6 months. This experience gave me an insight of what child nursing roles and responsibilities involve and the positive impact it can make on children’s lives. Though at times dealing with children at difficult and stressful time can be challenging, it can also be very rewarding and satisfying to make a difference in the lives of others. Throughout my volunteering period, I have gained ranges of key skills such as, interpersonal skills, where I have developed good communication by talking and interacting with children’s and staffs. For example, during play times I asked the children’s about if they are enjoying themselves and encourage them to participate. Also, working in a team with the staff and working with wide variety of people from different background enabled me to understand that everyone is unique and has their unique cultures and preferences. I was able to learn about different cultures, languages and more about their backgrounds.
