My name is Beth and I am nineteen years old. I am in my first year of adult nursing at Edinburgh Napier University. I am looking for a casual babysitting job at the weekends and in the evenings. I am fun, enthusiastic, hardworking, kind and caring. I have a range of experience of looking after children.
From the age of thirteen to sixteen I volunteered as a young leader at local holiday club. I was the friendly face that took time to listen to the children. Each child grew in confidence every day and came in with a story to tell me or something to show me. I loved being in this environment where I was an approachable person who they could rely on and trust.
I successfully completed a Young Leader Award and I have been the paid assistant coach for two athletics camps for children aged from five up to twelve years old. This has taught me the importance of taking responsibility for people in my care. I am good at using my initiative which I showed when I was working with a group of young children when one girl fell ill. This meant that the main coach had to take the girl up to the sports centre while I was left in charge of the rest of the group. I used my initiative and quickly came up with a game for the group to play which kept the children safe and occupied and while we waited for the main coach to come back.
I worked as an Activator Camp leader with Edinburgh Leisure in July and August 2016. This involved leading a wide range of activities, from sports to fun baking exercises. This also involved leading several other games and adapting activities often at the last minute. This wide range of experience has given me excellent communication skills.
I enjoy working with people and I have excellent interpersonal skills. I am a very sensitive person and I understand the importance of listening to children.
