Hey, My name is Holly. I am 18 and currently work for Claire's.
I have always wanted to work with children and I know that it is something I'm good at. I love working with children. It makes me feel rewarded when the children start to show the things they have learned and talk about these things their parents, I like to feel like I am helping out parents. I love doing something that makes a difference. It's not just 9-5 on a till or typing numbers into computer. I love seeing children smiling when they have learnt something new or when they find their first friend. Children are great and I wouldn't want to not be around them. It's so rewarding and would love this opportunity.
I am a very organised, enthusiastic and highly motivated person who is reliable, responsible and hard working. I adapt quickly to challenging situations whilst remaining calm, focused and positive. Mature with an outgoing, friendly personality who enjoys the challenge either independently or as a member of a team.
I often babysit my two cousins, one is 4 months and the other is 5 years old, due to the age difference the way I play with them are completely different.
With the 4 month year old I concentrate on play involving fine and gross motor skills to try and develop her muscles such as hands, fingers, arms and legs. I usually sit her down on her play mat with cushions around her so she won't fall down, and I put toys at an arm’s reach away from her so that she needs to try and reach for the toys to help her develop, the toys I use are teddy's, shape sorters and things with buttons and different materials so that she will need to use her motor skills to help develop her grasping and finger muscles, as well as arm muscles when reaching a toy.
When playing with the 5 year old I try to develop her intellectual, language ad cognitive skills, as well as making the play fun so she doesn't get bored easily. I usually play role play games with her, such as restaurants or shops. She finds it fun to play and helps develop her intellectual skills due to having to thing and remember what they do in each scene and how each role would act, It also develops her language skills as she talks and learns new words that each role would say/use, and finally it helps her physical as she running around, moving and picking up objects during the role play.
