Sophie, babysitter in Consett

Hi! I'm Sophie, a 20 year old female living in County Durham.

I am currently taking my second gap year, before moving to London in September to study Linguistics at UCL. My availability is fully flexible until this time, and I would love to commit the next few months to gaining further experience in childcare. Ideally, I am seeking a position as a part-time nanny or babysitter.

Last year I lived and worked in Milan for six months, where I was the au pair for two young Italian boys. I have a natural love of children but during this period I was able to learn a lot of practical childcare skills, developing enormously in my personal confidence with children. Furthermore, I was responsible for teaching English to the children in a natural and informal setting, typically through play and daily interactions. I was proud of the progress made by the boys, and felt truly rewarded by the time I spent aiding their development. As a babysitter/nanny my youth and energy mean that I truly enjoy developing a relationship with children, and hopefully that children enjoy my company too! I also understand the vital nature of trust between the nanny, parents and children; demonstrating reliability, consistency and professionalism are equally important to me. Having lived within a young family as an au pair, I have witnessed the challenges posed by childcare (sickness, school holidays, family breaks, work schedules). With this in mind, I aim to flexible and understanding.

In terms of personal qualities, I would consider myself to be quite an artistic person. Until a few years ago I trained intensively in classical ballet and was a senior associate of the Royal Ballet School in London. My love of theatre and dance is something I would love to share with your children, though more generally simply nurturing their creativity! I have also achieved well academically and school is very important to me.
