My name is Lorna and I am 19 years of age. Since making the decision to work in a childcare sector dedicated to furthering my knowledge and gaining my NVQ Level 2 and 3 Children's and Young People's Workforce qualification, I have already gained 3 years practical experience working in both schools and nurseries through paid and voluntary work. Therefore I feel that I am competent for this career path and have willingly signed up for a part time Foundation Degree in Early Years to gain more knowledge in this. I am looking for further part time work in childcare to gain more practical experience.
I always strive to utilise my creative nature to expand children's activities to further develop their learning journeys and promote meaningful learning. Evidence of this includes examples of activities I have set up for the children throughout my time at Fisherfield Farm Nursery, and my work has even been featured in the companies Best Practice file, of recognition for my hard work and creativity. I feel that the creativity I have would really help me as children deserve to be inspired by their role models.
My hunger for self development motivates me to partake in the various training opportunities available to me at my work place, to name a few I have completed training in First Aid, Safeguarding, Fire Safety, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, and Inclusion training. Due to a willingness to develop my skills I now have a strong sense of responsibility and a greater awareness of child safety issues.
During my free time I've read Nursery World Magazines regularly to further enhance my knowledge on current issues surrounding education as well as stimulating fresh ideas that I can bring to my setting.
In 2013 I made the decision to volunteer in a reception class at the primary school, Our Lady of Lourdes. I committed to 8 hours a week working around my college schedule to gain practical, transferable skills that gave me confidence before entering the work place in a child care setting.
I am eager to continue inspiring the next generation and would love to complete my Level 5 degree, transferring my current skills and knowledge expanding them for progress and self development.
