Work Experiences
St.John’s Priory School (Banbury) – I did my work experience in Year 10. The roles I had to take on were looking after a class, being able to communicate with the children and know what I was doing and to be able to observe children. I had to be an appropriate role model. (May 2013)

The Unicorn Inn (Deddington) - I worked as a waitress. The roles I had to take on was being able to be fast and effective, work hard and being able to communicate with other members of staff and customers appropriately. (May 2014)

Rugrats and Half Pints play area (Banbury) – I worked as a party host. The roles I had to take on was being time effective, being able to communicate with members of staff and customers, management skills and organisation. (June – September 2014)

Sainsbury’s (Banbury) – I worked in the TU Clothing Department as a Christmas Temp. I was faced with the roles of helping customers find what they needed, putting out new stock, making displays, etc. (November 2014 – January 2015)

For my college course, I have to attend 4 different placements over the course of 2 years on a Monday and Tuesday. I have to spend a minimum of 5 months at each placement.

The Close Nursery (Banbury) – This is my first placement. I was faced with a variety of different roles to look after the children. (September 2014 – February 2015)
• I had to set up the table for snack time
• I had to do observations on the children and then plan for their next step activities
• I had to help with cleaning at the end of the day
• I had to help to organise the children when getting ready to go outside and counting them when they came back in to make sure that everyone was there

Poland (Warsaw) – I went to Poland on a college trip and worked in a nursery over there with ages 2-4 and 6-8. (8th March – 11th March 2015)
• I had to go into a class of 2-4 year old’s on my first day in the nursery, it was very challenging as I didn’t understand the language and very few of the children and staff understood English
• I learnt a new skill whilst I was over there, it was how to deal with a child that had a language barrier to me – it was very challenging at first but I managed to pull through and help the children in any way which I could – I taught some of them a few words in English whilst I was there too
• Myself and another individual on my course had to carry out an activity with the 2-4 year old’s – it had to be an English activity where we taught the children names of the fruits in English through playing games

The Harriers School (Banbury) – This is my second placement that I am currently still in. (February 2015 – present)
• I have to be organised and a good role model for all of the children at my placement, I have to help them with the lessons such as English and Maths
• A regular thing that I do when I’m there is do reading with the children, I take out a few individuals or sometimes a group and I sit and read with them and help them with any words they may struggle with
• I have to make sure that I am organised as I have to fill out paperwork when a child is injured, etc. I make sure that I know where everything is to be able to carry out lessons, etc.
