I am a social person, I love connecting to people, helping and encourage them to reach up to their best, to fulfil their dreams; I like to travel and discover places and people. I like to read, listen to music, swimming, dancing, and going for a walk. I love doing arts and crafts. I like crocheting and knitting.
Since 1999 I have been working for disabled children, young people and their families as support worker, social worker, play worker, practitioner, program coordinator. This positions helped me to develop skills like empathy, listening skills, a high level of patience and emotional resilience and a non-judgmental attitude.
During my work experience in Romania in the positions I already mentioned, I have worked for well known Romanian organizations and had the opportunity to design activities and use methods and techniques that help children, youth and adults with disabilities and mental health problems to develop their social skills, language, cognitive development.
I have been working as a nanny in London and Ramsgate KENT. I am currently living in Sittingbourne.
In Romania I have experienced several roles as:
- support worker, this role made me realize the importance of working one to one and being perseverance, calm, patient helping the child to learn from the environment, to communicate, to make friends and to play with them!
- the program manager and social worker role made me responsible and aware of the child and family’s needs. That was the time when I become and advocate of their rights and begun to learn how to develop programs and activities for them to have a better life and help them to use the community resources and theirs as well.
- Art and play were and are the methods I begun to use as a art worker, home based practitioner and I experienced the benefits as: better and constant eye contact, better coordination of the body, a better regulation of their emotion, a better self-confidence, trust in their abilities and others, improve and develop language and communication.
In UK I had the opportunity to work as a nanny for several families. Together with parents we set up a plan to stimulate the children in some areas such as cognitive, language, social abilities, sensory inputs, movement. I provide visual support for the children that need one, to know what is next, were they have to go etc. I accompanied them to social events such as birthdays parties, play groups and encourage them to interact, be social and develop life skills.
