Hi I'm Debbie, single Mum to a beautiful very active 10year old, I am fortunate to have the support of my dear Mum in bringing up my daughter.
I work 39weeks a year term-time at a college for students aged 16-25 with learning difficulties, behavioural problems, most of which are on the autistic spectrum.
For 4years my Daughter and I were living in Australia, my job over there was a teacher aide to students between the ages of 4 and 13, I taught math and english to children that needed a little extra support.
Back in 2006/2007 following the birth of my daughter I was going to start my own business in childcare and obtained a Diploma in Childcare whilst on Maternity Leave, however my employers at the time (Dyfed-Powys Police) made reasonable adjustments to my hours of work in order for me to return to my administrative role at Police HQ in Carmarthen, therefore my qualification wasn't used.
I can adapt accordingly to caring for all ages and I am also a qualified swimming instructor, I have a baby/toddler and a children/adult qualification for teaching swimming which I used out in Australia working for Sue Howlett Swim School. I believe that there should be a fun element in education, children and adults respond more positively when enjoying learning activities.
My daughter and I do a great deal of travelling, this is a great source of education and adventure, our next mini-break is going to be to a Field Studies Centre in Pembrokeshire, they provide some fabulous classes and activities based around exploring nature.
