Since leaving school I have always known that I wanted to work with children, and even though I was not always able to find a relevant job that met my individual needs, financially supporting myself has always been my main priority.
I left school in 2008 with 10 GCSE’s A*-C and was known for my confident and outgoing personality. This shone through when I was appointed the role of Head Girl, based on my ability to liaise well with the teachers and the pupils and also based on my skills in organising and passion for the school.
I have experience with children in childcare and education and have worked with children from newborn babies up to 16 years, alongside having two younger sisters which I pride myself on being a strong role model for.
In September 2008, I started a CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 3 at Filton College, where through placements and work experience I built up many skills and a sound knowledge base regarding children and the education system. I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant where I supported the class teacher and learnt a lot about the role and responsibilities as well as Special Educational Needs and the National Curriculum.
More recently I have been working in a nursery as a room leader for the preschool where I lead two practitioners within my room and oversee the development of 30 children, including 15 key children of my own. Some of the children I have been supporting have special needs including a girl who is a selective mute, some who are on Individual Play Plans (IPP’s), one with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and some who are involved in social services.
I have just been given a new job within a Primary school as a Teaching Assistant where I support children within all age groups and with a variety of special educational needs.

In order to expand my knowledge and training in education I have also been studying towards my Level 4 in Higher Level Teaching Assistance (1 year course) for children aged 4-18, which I am nearly half way through. This course is giving me a wider understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and is developing my already strong knowledge in childcare and education.
I am passionate about diversity and inclusive practice and have personally contributed towards this by treating every child equally and meeting their individual needs.
Working alongside parents is something I have always taken pride in as I have built a strong rapport with each child’s family to ensure positive relations and communication to meet the needs of each child. I am enthusiastic about children and have always wanted the opportunity to work within a successful school, so that I can better my knowledge and adapt my skills in order to progress into an experienced practitioner.
