Hello, my name is Sylwia . I am 19, and a second year student at the University of Lincoln where I'm studying Journalism and Public Relations. By the name you can probably tell that I am not British. I was born in Poland but have been here for 14 years and therefore I am fluent in both English and Polish. I am also an aspiring blogger, having created an online blog in January of this year where I write about fashion, books, travel and lifestyle.
The reason I am applying for a baby sitting job is because I am a student so I cannot guarantee that I would be available during the day for child care.
I have worked with children in the past, both primary and secondary school ages. I have two weeks work experience at a Primary School where I had the responsibility of taking care of children during break and lunch times as well as having my own groups during school trips. During lesson time I was expected to help individual children in the classroom.
I also have a month experience in a Secondary School working as an exam invigilator. This required skills I already had and that I developed over the month. Patience and communication skills were needed when it came to troubled children and children who were anxious, stressed, or panicked. I had to learn how to deal with conflict as working with a teenage age group meant that there are many unpredictable situations that may occur. Leadership skills were also needed to guide the students through the exam period and encourage them to do as well as they possibly can.
I believe I am a punctual, organised and enthusiastic individual that can offer a lot in this job position.
Occasional babysitting | $7.00 per hour |
I understand that I have very little experience with child care in the past and therefore I do not expect a high wage as it would be unfair taking into consideration my qualifications. However if I'm going to have to travel in order to get to my job, I will have to earn enough to be able to afford it, especially as a student. I hope this is understandable.
