Hello!
My name is Fiona and I am a 23 year old medical student at the University of Glasgow. I would describe myself as friendly, happy and reliable and have always loved interacting with children. I hope to go into the specialty of paediatrics when I qualify as a doctor - I have just begun my 4th year at medical school.
I have had an abundance of experience in child care / babysitting since I was a teenager. This was mainly within my family and family friends but also with neighbours. The ages of the children I have cared for have ranged from just 6 months to around 12 years old. I have a Godson who is 4 years old, I frequently take care of him for hours at a time in order to give his parents a well deserved break whether in the evenings or during the days at the weekend.
There is a relatively large age gap between me and my younger sister and over the years I have helped her (and others) out with homework and school projects. I would be happy to do the same for any child in my care wherever I felt I could.
Within some of my voluntary work I would go to visit a young boy who has a hard time engaging in social interaction due to his autism. Once over the hurdle of initiating play and gaining his attention he would come to life. I would help out with his current subject of fascination, build structures out of lego etc and play outdoors with him in a make-believe type scenario.
In the past many have commented on my patience, especially when it comes to children. I am happy to entertain with board games, make-believe or just sitting to watch a film or do some colouring in - whatever your child prefers to do. I will admit however, I am terrible when it comes to using PS2/3 and the Xbox its something I didn't have while growing up but I'd be willing to give it a go.
Since coming to university and living a life of independency my passion for food and cooking has grown. I would be happy to cook for your child(ren) and even engage them in some baking if they would find it entertaining.
Alternatively I know some children would prefer to be left to their own devices, in which case I am more than happy to just sit and read a book or do some of my own studying.
As a medical student I have some basic training in first aid and have undertaken course in both first aid alongside both basic and advanced life support.
I hope this wasn't too long-winded and bored you to tears but if you're looking for a calm and adaptable child minder then please don't hesitate in contacting me. I look forward to meeting both you and your child(ren) in the near future.
Occasional babysitting | $5.00 per hour |
When you're going out for the day or evening the last thing you want to be worrying about is the cost of your childcare. All I ask is that if you wish for me to babysit for over 8 hours you may consider paying a rate of £6.50 an hour as this is the basic minimum wage for over 21 year olds.
