My name is Samantha and I'm 19. I have 3 younger siblings of the ages 7, 10 and 12, all with some kind of mental disability so home life can be stressful but I feel like I cope with it well. I'm patient and willing to listen to their needs before acting accordingly, and on several occasions I've been left alone with them to keep the peace and look after them to avoid WW3 (they fight a lot).
I can care for children confidently from ages 4 to 12. I feel like my bubbly attitude, likeness (I can be childish when I don't have to be serious) and fairness may win their attention so that we may do things together and they'll still listen when instructions left by the parents are given.
I one took a course in early education and childcare, but I never finished the course, yet I feel like my understanding of children is very good, both in theory and practical. I'm good at keeping schedules that are time critical and will not disrespect the parents' rules. I can cook basic meals and I'm definitely available to take them to and from school of necessary. (I have college from 9-5 on Monday and Wednesdays, however.) I can do homework with them.
I was also a prefect in highschool, so organising activities for younger people was in that job description. Activities included floor puzzles, Pictionary, hoopla, building towers of blocks, etc. The help from the prefects kept the environment fun and calm (I know kids can get excited and competitive) so everyone could enjoy it. We were also in charge of coordinating school sports days, which is always a lot of fun.
