Over the past 13 years I have been a member of a youth group called the Girls brigade, where I have received training in being a young leader. This has given me the skills required to volunteer at other organisations for children and young people. I am also passionate about being active in my community, and have had the opportunity to serve by helping in a number of different areas in my church for instance childcare and serving on a coffee bar.
I have a younger sister and brother who who are primary and secondary school ages and I have spent many years of my life looking after them when my parents weren’t around. This included putting them to bed, cooking for them, playing games with them and helping them with their homework. I have also looked after my cousins who are all younger in age which has given me a lot of experience in taking care of children in a large variety of age groups. In my holidays I regularly volunteer at a holiday camp for primary school children where I run craft activities and some outdoor games for large groups of children.
Overall I love looking after children and although I have had little professional experience, I am adaptable and I am very willing to learn.

I am a student and so I am currently relying on student loans and my parents to help me pay for my accomodation. I am hoping that getting a job in childcare will help take some financial pressure off my parents.
