I am a professionally qualified Nanny with extensive hands on knowledge with children aged between 0 - 8 years, having worked in childcare since qualifying in May 2000.

Most of my experience has been with pre-school children. I have had experience of: weaning, potty training, tantrums, teaching the children to walk, talk, read and write as well as the necessary skills needed for nursery/school (colours, shapes, numbers, letters etc.)

I pride myself of the quality and professionalism of my work and am always willing to learn and adapt to differing environments. I have a tremendous love for children and place a high standard on learning. I possess a calm attitude and superb understanding of children’s needs. I enjoy interacting with people and work well within a team as well as an individual basis.
Having worked in child care for 16yrs I have gained knowledge and experience of the developmental needs of young children. I know the importance of providing quality play experiences and opportunities to learn through their play in order to meet their Intellectual, Social, Emotional and Physical needs. I have demonstrated that I am able to work as part of a team whilst doing Voluntary work at schools, working in private nurseries and throughout my BTEC placements.

Having been a Nanny for Many years I have gained extensive hands on knowledge and experience of working with young children and their parents. It has been necessary to plan all their activities providing them with new learning opportunities that meet their developmental stage and age, this is often done through themes and topics. I understand the need to observe/assess the children in my care to enable me to identify their needs and plan for their progress. It has been essential to work with the parents, listening to their points of view and at times take on board their working methods although different to my own at times. It has been important for us to keep each other informed of any concerns that we may have with regards to the children, working together at all times to ensure the needs of the child are met.

My experience has helped me develop my skills and abilities in a wide range of settings. The changes in settings show I am able to adapt to different circumstances and individual age groups. I have worked on a 1 to 1 basis with children, supervised group activities, set up equipment and helped to plan and prepare activities in order to meet the curricular requirements and nursery/school ethos.

My experience has taught me that many play activities should be structured in order to enhance children's learning and the need for adult involvement is of vital importance in the early years to promote all areas of the childs growth and development by providing them with experiences such as: role play in the home corner, dressing up, floor play with the garage, farm, blocks, junk modelling, painting, balls, bikes, hoops, musical instruments, sand and water play etc.

With my professional experience set aside, I have day to day hands on experience being mum to my 3 beautiful children aged 11yrs, 7yrs & 18mths.

I am a fit, healthy person who is honest, reliable, enthusiastic, extremely hardworking and always punctual.

My hobbies and interests include: reading, eating out and spending time with my much loved family and friends, especially my three beautiful children, hubby & springer spaniel.
