My name is Jasmine , I am currently a college student in Birkenhead Sixth Form College studying Health and Social Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma.
I have had gained a lot of experience with children including minding my siblings within the house and taking them out. I also have had a lot of experience in primary schools and nurseries.
21th July-1st August 2014: Special needs assistant in Foxfield Secondary School Summer Play scheme in Moreton. I gained a lot of experience within a setting that I was unfamiliar with and that I haven't had any experience in. I became more understanding of jobs that workers within the school have to do and I gained more confidence so I had the ability to cooperate with children who have communication problems and who don't quite understand. I carried out many activities for the children who had the ability to join in and if there were any disabilities involved, I would make the activity suitable for all abilities.
17th June-24th June 2013: Nursery Classroom Assistant in Oscars Day Nursery in Wallasey. I learnt to cooperate with younger children and my communication skills have developed during doing my work experience. I helped them to communicate with each other and to participate in activities. I created activities for the children such as football, art and crafts and academic activities. I achieved and gained more independence and more knowledge of how things work in a health and social care setting.
10th October-17th December 2014: Teaching Assistant in Elleray Park School in Wallasey Village. During this placement I have gained lots of new communication skills and how to cooperate with children with additional needs and how to communicate with the staff in a sensible manner. During my time at Elleray Park I have learnt to work as a team efficiently in order for us to overcome a task or sometimes a barrier.
My hobbies are looking after my siblings and taking my younger siblings out on walks and on family days out. I enjoy participating in swimming and going out with friends doing many activities such as dancing and playing tennis. I enjoy going on holiday and spending time with my family. I have taken a level 2 First Aid course with the St Johns Ambulance on 1st November and I have completed a level 2 Food Hygiene course on 2nd December. I am currently participating in Sign Language lessons during college times on a Friday afternoon and I started 19th September.
I have participated in bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh in 2012 and 2013 and I have participated in National Citizen Service in October 2014 to build up social skills. Participated in many concerts for flute ensemble and took lots of exams up to grade 5 Flute. This shows the amount of determination I have and that I am organised with the work and activities I participate in.
My qualities as a childcarer are patient, a good sense of humour and I am friendly. I am competent with children as I have a basic aputude for regcognising and caring and meeting childrens needs. I have good communication skills with adults/parents and with children and I have a lot of knowledge around child development and emergency training through my course in college. I feel this would make me a great child carer.
