I have recently returned from a life changing adventure, visiting nine countries in nine months. Throughout this time I worked closely with young children in various settings from a one-to-one basis as a live in Au Pair, to a Camp Counselor in 2012 and 2013. These experiences have given me the opportunity to develop skills such as communicating with children and focusing on individual child development. I am a caring, confident and enthusiastic individual with a passion for helping children thrive, have fun and be safe in my care.
Whilst travelling I worked as an Au Pair for two different families, one in Brisbane and one in Sydney. The children were aged between one and three and I was fully responsible for their daily routine and welfare. This included many activities such as playgroups, dance, and swimming. It was a real privilege to work so closely with the children and be part of their development. Over a relatively short space of time I built very strong relationships with both parents and children and felt part of the families, a testament to my vibrant personality and personable character. By supporting the eldest child to attend nursery I became familiar with her individual development and learning needs, with the emphasis on developing her speaking and listening skills. Looking after the children improved my ability to multitask, my adaptability and my skills in communicating with the children’s parents. This enabled us to do what was best for them and get the best from them.
