Katie, child care - LA1 Lancaster

Hello!

I'm Katie, I'm 19 years old and a student, and I'm looking to offer care in the form of babysitting services to those in my new local area.

I've been babysitting back home for a number of family friends - as well as total strangers! - for around 3 years, and now that I've moved away to a new city, I'm missing the children I've looked after and wanted to place this ad to see if I could offer my services to anybody.

I feel I was good at caring for the children whom I looked after in previous roles; helping with things from the more practical - basic supervision of a young baby, help getting little ones up the stairs, teeth cleaning, toilet-time - to the more fun and lovely stuff, like playing games (from trucks to dolls to board games, and the classic, snap) reading bedtime stories, tucking them up in bed, listening to their stories about their day.

I loved looking after a couple of children on a more long term basis, as we started to get on even better (as they got a bit less shy!) and I stepped in a couple of times during the day when one child was poorly, or to finish dinner when their Mum had to dash off quickly. I feel like they really begun to trust me and on a couple of occasions I proved a good hugger when little one woke with bad dreams. I miss those children!

I'll always follow the parents/guardians's specific instructions, as realise each family has their own routine which works best for them - and I feel that I was responsive to whatever the parents/guardians were asking me to do on each occasion.

Equally, and although I've had some valuable experience which is outlined above, I am aware that I do not have certain high qualifications than this, and as a responsible and self-aware adult feel I can be trusted to act properly in different situations - whether that was handling something that I was capable of looking after by myself, or phoning a child's parent/guardian if I felt it more appropriate. I think above all this makes me responsible, trustworthy and reliable, and I hope my referees would agree.
