For as long as I can remember I have always loved looking after children younger than me, even if only by a year. I have an extremely bubbly personality and a big imagination which means I bring a lot of energy and fun whenever I babysit.
I mostly have looked after children of primary school age, from about four different families, but I also look after a family of a toddler and two babies presently so I have experience with a big range of ages. A lot of the time I babysit in the evenings when parents want to go out but I have also done a number of full days looking after children so I am experienced in both manners of babysitting.
I love knowing that the children I look after have a fun time while I’m there whilst also making sure that any jobs the parents want done are completed, from them doing their homework to cooking them their lunch and dinner. I am more than happy to help out with any homework they find difficult (preferably primary school homework) and I always make sure I leave the home having tidied up any mess that may have been made.
In my experience, it tends to be better if the kids can make up what they want to do, after doing what they need to (like homework), out of a range of fun options I can give them. Sometimes this could be just watching a funny film, or baking cakes, or even trudging through the entire village on a quest to find more Pokemon-Go characters. I’m really fine with doing whatever they want to do but I will always make sure that any new activity is checked with their parents before I agree to it.
As well as experience I have gained through babysitting, I have also helped out a lot in my old primary school, the junior part of my old school and another primary school near my old school. This means I’ve got lots of experience in dealing with many different children at once and so in comparison looking after two or three is less of a challenge than I used to find it. It also means that I feel more relaxed whenever I look after kids meaning that I have loads of fun as well since I genuinely enjoy doing babysitting.
Occasional babysitting | $7.00 per hour |
I normally charge £7 an hour but if the family I work for would struggle with that I am willing to go down to a minimum of £5 if that’s all they can do.
