Bethan, child care in Tonyrefail

Hello, my name is Bethan and I am a child care provider living in Tonyrefail. I have been working with children for seven years and have made great connections and relationships with children and their families in my previous care.

I have worked with children from the ages of newborn to sixteen years. Dealing with many additional needs, special educational needs and international children.

I consider my personality to be very positive in everything that I do. I'm happy and warm, while also being very organised in my work life. I am hardworking, very reliable and determined to succeed in everything I do. I'm well known as very nurturing, being refereed to as the 'mom' within my friendship circles. I like to keep busy so will always be doing some fun and creative activities with the children.

If I am not running around with the little ones, you will most likely find me reading a book or at the theatre.

My previous experience includes;

Placement for my college course every Monday and Tuesday for the 2 years. Covering ages from six weeks to seven years in private and statutory nurseries, and school settings.

University placement – Hill High School. This setting is well known for its excellent results for young boys aged 11-16 years who have been removed from mainstream education due to behaviour. Through this experience, I was able to work with children with additional learning needs, special educational needs and social and emotional behaviour difficulty.

Acorns Private Nursery (Whitchurch and BBC). During my time here I worked with children aged from six weeks to 3 years. My main duties were to follow all company policies and procedures, complete all paperwork, create fun activities for the child’s age and stage of ability and maintain personal care and well being of the child, meeting their individual needs.

Nightingales Private Pre School. During my time here I worked alongside a team within the Baby, toddler and pre school unit. Additionally, as part as a breakfast and Afterschool club.

Working in Mallorca as the role of Baby Club Host. Through this experience I have worked with international children aged from three months to eleven years. Some of my main duties include, completing all paperwork, weekly reports, promoting kids clubs, holding 2-3 hours sessions for the different age groups, hosting parent and toddler sessions, deep cleaning of the kids clubs, excellent communication within different hotels, international guests and a large team. Additionally, through this experience I was given the opportunity to be acting Childcare Team leader due to holidays. This role included managing a 12 man international team.

Full Time Private Nanny.
As a specialist working within the family's home, within my hours of work I am responsible for all tasks relating to the care of the child. Within my role, I serve as a loving, nurturing and trustworthy companion to the child within my care. Some of the main duties included within this position are; creating a stimulating, nurturing and safe environment, supervise activities at all times, plan, prepare and cook meals, dress the child and carry out personal hygiene routines, place the child down for naps and observe them through out this time at set times instructed by parents, perform housework relating to child care such as; children's laundry, cleaning up after meals and tidying up play areas. Other duties include playing within the indoor and outdoor environment, plan and lead educational activities, administer medication when necessary and driving the child safely to organised classes such as dancing, French lessons and forest school.
