Presentation

Here is some info about my personality, what I believe in and what I'm about:

I am a professional within the psychology field as I currently hold the position of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within the NHS, mainly working with adolescents. I have a lot of work history within childcare and have also studied child development and child psychology. I have always enjoyed working with children, that’s why I want to continue to do so alongside working as a mental health professional. Please see my availability to see if it suits your needs.

My drive, determination, mental toughness, positivity, self-motivation and kind heart is unlike that of any other 24 year old, most people tell me. When people ask me what I want to do with my life, I always tell them I want to make a difference in people’s lives. I am eager to learn from others who have experienced life in many different ways and I want to contribute to the positivity in the lives of others. I believe that despite whatever troubles, heartache, tough times, and challenges… life is still so beautiful, life is a blessing and a gift. Our perception is what shapes our experiences. I want to help as many people as I possibly can, help them to discover and unlock their own potential, and show them they don’t need anything else but themselves.

I’m a very positive person. I know a lot of people say that, but I think a real positive person is one who is positive even when everything hits rock bottom and everything around them is negative. It’s not all about seeing sunshine and rainbows, it’s about being a realist and seeing things for what they really are and maintaining a positive way of thinking. I believe everyone is amazing and has great potential, they just need some help to see it for themselves.

I have excellent emotional intelligence as I can tune in to other's feeling and am very compassionate. This enables me to have good patience which is essential when working with children! Likewise, my emotional intelligence allows me to manage my own emotions, for example, I could be feeling low in mood, but I’d still be smiling. I think this is also very important when working with children. Furthermore, I am warm, gentle and wear my heart on my sleeve. I use these characteristics as positive traits as I am also a very spiritually strong person; therefore such ‘soft’ traits serve as an advantage rather than a vulnerability.

As for my interests, I am a fitness enthusiast and hold a passion in improving fitness and efficiency, as well as keeping very healthy. Speaking of which, I have a growing awareness and understanding of the biomechanics/biotensegrity of the body. I love doing my online blog which is based on life and psychology. I’m adventurous and love to travel, have fun, and connect with new people.

Now, here is some info on my experience in childcare:

I have 4 years of beneficial experience within childcare settings; on a 1:1 basis as well managing large groups of children. In addition, I have excellent understanding of behaviour management as well as experience in dealing with challenging behaviours (E.g. working with children with ADHD and autism). My past work experience enabled me to develop good level of creativity and efficiency in planning activities for children to facilitate them in their development.

For the past 6 years I have been looking after a young boy, now 7 years old, on a 1:1 basis due to his special physical needs (acquired hemiplegia). His mother and I have a great relationship and this experience has provided me with beneficial knowledge in areas such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy. I can provide a reference from the mother if needed. I was working with him on a regular basis, but I now do the occasional day or night with him when the mother needs support with childcare.

Finally, working with children has enabled be to gain good knowledge and understanding of: data protection, safeguarding, health and safety, first aid, food hygiene, equality and diversity, and more. Furthermore, I have good knowledge in carrying out risk assessments.

Overall, I have varied experience with children of ages between 3 months and 7 years old. My experience has come from working in professional childcare settings at 'Outstanding' (Ofsted) nurseries as well as babysitting and nannying. I also have a 3 years old niece who loves spending time with me.
