I am a 23 year old part-time student who has qualifications in childcare. I have a strong sense of dedication to working with children because i have babysat and have been responsible for the care of my younger sibling in the past, as well as supervising a group of children in a school. I know how responsible i am and i believe this type of career is the right one for me.
I use basic common sense when it comes to health and safety and i will keep up-to-date on my First Aid courses so that i can be the best carer i can be for the children i take care of. The main qualities i possess, that i feel is best for this job role is that i am fair, polite, organized, bubbly, optimistic, a good cook, dependable and flexible. I am also self studying child psychology in my free time and i would have i get on with most children very well.
I would say that i am a good role model in the sense that i am grounded, helpful and reliable.
I have worked in a number of different nursery settings but because i have just started on this career path i have only the 1-2 year experience. But i am only looking to babysit part-time, i am hoping to gain employment in a school working with other people to help me more in my practice.
When it comes to helping a child with their development, i am very knowledgeable about the EYFS framework, and how i can help improve a child's intellectual, emotional, physical and social development. I will try to come up with activities that will best appeal to a young person's five senses, depending on the child's likes and dislikes. I will try my best to not make a child sit in front of a TV for more than 2 days. If there is homework to be done, they will do it before they play. I would also like to encourage the family to bring up any concerns that i discuss with them with their child especially if it concerns a child's well-being and development (e.g. teaching them to listen to me, to not to be rude/lie, to try and do things for themselves).
I will try to take the child to the cinema (travel costs will be covered for myself, but i cannot cover a child when it comes to outings the family will have to contribute to that), to the park or simply shopping, to make sure they are getting out and walking. (This all depends on how well the child has bonded with me and if the family agrees to some outings) i will always make sure that the family has my contact details on outings.
I also have a recent DBS check, i will be happy to provide it to the family.
* Important information to know
- I can only look after children between the ages of 1-5 years old
- I am only looking for part-time work (Mornings - afternoon/Evenings)
- Parents must contribute if they want me to take a child out on outings
- I am only a babysitter it is not my responsibility to cater for a child's educational needs, i will try to help a child with their homework, i am very good with English and reading and that is all i can bring to helping with their educational needs
- If the child is not potty trained, can the parents please have their own baby wipes/nappies provided
- As mentioned before, i can serve meals that have been already prepared by the parents, i feel this is the best thing to do because only a parent knows what their child likes/dislikes, also it reduces the risk of allergic reactions etc
- At the moment i am only a student! I am qualified but not as experienced.
