I have a current, clear and up to date DBS check (Formally CRB).
I currently work within a primary school as a teaching assistant, planning for a wide range of abilities, completing assessment, observation of children and providing challenging next steps to assist with their development,
I support children with a wide range of SEN and behavioral and educational needs.
I have previously been involved with children, a mix of abilities and age groups; the Year 1’s at St Francis helping a child with ADHD, working closely with small groups on planned activities within the classroom environment, leading snack time and small reading and maths activities with the entire class group with the teachers support.
Those have previously worked at Norfolk House Nursery, age range from 3 months – 4 years, as I am mainly based within the in Toddlers Room I work most closely with those aged between 2 – 4 years, which gives a varied range of abilities, working as part of the team. I have helped the Nursery attain an ‘Outstanding’ on the last inspection in Spring 2012. Whilst working here I have had to demonstrate my skills I learned by leading a key group of children for which I was solely responsible for maintaining records for each child by effectively planning my activities based on each individual child’s needs and interests; also by keeping observations, updating individual child learning journeys, producing development summaries and performing parents evenings. Also by building trusting relationships with not only the children within my key group but others within the room and building confident lasting relationships with parents and carers. My bonds with the children have been proven with parents feeling confident to talk to me about any concerns that they may have about their child and consequently the children look forward to nursery. I have also had experience working closely with and within the Pre-school room working with children in there and assisting with the transitions of my key group and those preparing to begin school, having to work closely with staff and parents to ensure that transitions were smooth and as settling as possible for each child.
Also, I have cared on a regular basis for children with special emotional and social needs through adoption, where my sensitive nature appealed to them and their family.
I feel that my caring, loving attitude and patience towards each child is demonstrated with relationships I am able to build and would do anything to contribute to the child’s overall development and well being. Also my ability to remain calm and collected myself or to reassure others when working under pressure reflects in the care i provide for each and every child.
