Teaching Assistant Work Experience

01/2014 Most recent voluntary work at St Stephens C.E Primary School

I have worked as a teaching assistant at a primary school in Blackburn on a voluntary basis. I assisted children in receiving quality education by organising activities to help them understand the various subjects they study. I encouraged their development and act as a role model by maintaining successful relationships with them. I used a range of strategies and teaching styles to ensure they receive full support.

01/2013 Mathematics tutor at Preston Muslims Girls High School with Lancashire County Council

I have worked as a Mathematics tutor at a high school which enhanced my communication and teaching skills. I taught at GCSE level and was able to teach students at very many levels. I supported the students as much as possible and those with a lot more learning difficulties. I was increasingly approachable and implemented instructional efforts to ensure the students were provided with the best possible education. My organisation skills enabled me to plan and design lessons to provide a good understanding of the subject. I grasped a good understanding of the curriculum and worked with students in a group as well as a one-to one basis.

06/2012 Teaching Assistant at Kumons

I have worked with Kumons as a teaching assistant and helped the children improve their English and Mathematics skills. This shows that I am able to confidently communicate with children as young as 3. I helped children learn number skills through activities such as counting games and developed their language skills through reading stories and other activities. I observed the children's progress and wrote reports. Quite importantly I helped build their confidence and self-esteem and taught them both independent and team working values. I was aware of the Health and Safety measures for children and worked closely with each and every one of them. I supervised them throughout.

I very often tutor children Mathematics voluntarily in the neighbourhood. They gain a better understanding of the subject and most importantly really enjoy it.
