Foster carer Bolton county council - 1996 To September 2016
I have been a foster carer for Bolton council for the last 20 years, during this time I have cared and looked after children from various age groups, ethnicities, cultures and abilities. Throughout the course of my career as a foster carer I have completed various training exercises such as a first aid course, this has allowed me to demonstrate my ability to learn quickly and efficiently while also illustrating the diverse set of skills I have acquired. Fostering within its self has been a challenging but rewarding career, using my experience I have cared for children with wide ranging behavioural issues which reflects my ability to adapt to each child as required. In October 2010 I took part in a campaign to promote foster caring which was aired (as a advert) on national television, the campaign was called you can foster, I believe that by completing this campaign I have demonstrated courage and confidence which is vital to any organisation as I have shown that i go beyond doing the bare minimum while completing every task efficiently.
Interpreter for Prestige Network- 2010 to present
While fostering was my main occupation I undertook interpreting on a part time flexible basis whereby the company would ask if I was available to complete jobs when required. The main duties of this job included translating for health care professionals to clients; responsibilities included ensuring the client fully understood the diagnosis and translating any queries the client/patient had back to the healthcare professional. The main languages I translated in were Urdu and Gujarati.
