Hi there, my name is Sarah and I am 24 years old. I live with my partner in North Cambridge (close to Cambridge Regional College) with easy access to the city center via bus or bike. I am a fun, caring and polite individual who has a great sense of humour. I am very reliable, independent and I do not mind responsibility. I have had a keen interest in caring for children for many years now and I really enjoy watching them grow up and helping them to develop. In my spare time, I enjoy doing various forms of excercise such as swimming and running. I also enjoy going fishing, photography and spending time with my dog - walking and training him.
I am currently a nanny for one little boy (born November 2014) in central Cambridge. Myself and the child get up to various things each week such as attending baby/children's groups, going swimming or to various parks and libraries. I carry out general nanny duties such as dressing, nappy changing and bathing the child as well as normal household chores such as basic cooking/food preparation, tidying, emptying the bins and washing up.
Before my current position, I worked as a nanny for two young boys (aged 2 and 4) I did this for 6 months and enjoyed my first experience within a nanny role but decided to move onto another family due to long working hours (50+ hours/week).
Before I entered the wonderful world of nannying, I worked in a local day nursery for 6 years. During my time there, I gained my level 2 qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development. I then continued to study and achieve my level 3 qualification for the Children and Young People's Workforce. Whilst working at this nursery, I attended many training courses (either in house of through Cambridgeshire County Council) such as level 3 Peadiatric First Aid, Basic Child Protection, Promoting Health in the Early Years and baby/young children's sign language (Tiny Talk). When I first started at the nursery, I began as an apprentice and worked my way up to become the room leader of the toddler room (working with children between the ages of 16 months - 3 years). I managed, supervised and worked with and alongside a statf team of 6, as well as planning and holding team meetings. Each day, I carried out Health and Safety checks in order to ensure that the environment was safe and suitable for the children to use. I planned activities for individual children based around the Early Years Curriculum, the child's age, interests and abilities. I worked very hard to ensure that each child's needs were being met and tried my best to ensure that they had a safe, fun and stimulating environment to play and learn in. I found it very easy to build and maintain good relatonships with parents/carers and communicated with them on a daily basis, giving them in depth feedback regarding their child's day at nursery.
I would love to work for a family who are similar to myself: fun, honest, down to earth and understanding. I believe in a caring and loving approach when looking after children but also believe that being firm, in control and assettive is sometimes necessary in order to steer away from negative/unwanted behaviors (particually with older children). I also believe that children should have the opportunity to learn from real life, hands on experiences.
I do not drive so I am hoping to find a family reasonably close to where I live however I am happy to bus or bike to the location if needed.
I am not self-employed therefore my employer would have to deal with the contract, tax and national imsurance side of things (this is easily done via a nanny service such as 'nannytax' or 'nanny matters').
I have got the following:
A level 2 qualification in Food Safety and Catering
A level 2 Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development
A level 3 NVQ for the Children and Young People's Workforce
A level 2 qualification in Team Leading and managment
A level 3 Peadiatric First Aid qualification
Basic Child Protection training
A clear DBS check (CRB)
Registration with OFSTED
7 years of experience in caring for and working with childten and parents (nannying since January 2014)
I ask for £8 per hour (net)
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and/or if you would like a copy of my CV.
Many thanks
Sarah Cole
