Hello! My name is Megan and I am almost 20! I have always known that working and looking after children is a career path I wanted to take, probably from being surrounded by such a large, close family! I think this has benefited me by giving me crucial experience that money cannot buy. I have always looked after my siblings and younger cousins and through this experience have learnt how to interact with younger generations and help them bring out their full potential through games and creative activities. I believe you have to be a certain type of person to be able to look after children and I 100% think that I am capable of understanding each child's needs and wants.
I am very approachable which I think is important when working with children, especially those very young, as meeting someone new can be a daunting experience. I am creative and enjoy helping children carry out activities such as painting, drawing, reading stories etc.. I am a very forward thinker and am very aware of my surroundings which I think has come from looking after very small children and being safety cautious. I am able to use my initiative to defuse situations and, although I am fair, I will be willing to enforce boundaries. I also think that having a routine helps keep the balance which is why I think it's good to have someone to babysit your children who you can fully trust and that children can grow to know.
Although I have no formal qualifications as of yet, I have had experience working within a school environment and helping during academic and creative activities. I also have a lot of experience working with a child who has extra needs and needs more support and attention than others. This has made me extremely aware of all situations and I am a very empathetic person because of it. Children should be able to express themselves and have people who understand that at all times!
As well as childcare I would be willing to do any household chores that need doing whilst you are at work, such as washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning, just to make life a little easier. It also gives you the chance to spend time with your children after a long day, rather than having extra things to worry about when you get home!
