I have been working and volunteering with children slice i was 13 years old.
I have worked in In the early years setting and school age children.
I have supported development children in learning through play, with visual supports including symbols, Makaton and eye contact. I consistently promote independence within all areas of self-care including toileting and feeding.

I consider myself to be proactive, whilst working in early years I am a good team player, flexible, hardworking, a good listener and I’m happy to follow instructions when working with children on a 1:1 basis and in group sessions in order to meet the individuals goals.

In my free time I'm a PA for two young boys. One of which has delayed speech, since working with him I have used intensive interaction which has proved a success. The evidence is that he is starting to communicate with words and his eye contact with others is improving. In addition I have introduced him to PECS symbols and he is progressing all of the time, currently he understands more than one symbol. I am now working alongside his teacher at school, providing them with the successful strategies that are working in relation to the individual’s communication. It is important that a consistent approach is used to avoid any confusion and to encourage these news skills so that they can be used in different environments.
