Toni, childcare - DY1 Dudley

hello my name is Toni,
I am applying for a job because I have experience of working both within an a school as a teaching assistant and as a nursery nurse at a private day nursery. Therefore this role would fulfil my aspects of my desire to help and support children.

Being adaptable I believe I would fit well into an home environment and the demands of the role. I am a reliable and hardworking individual, with excellent organisational and communication skills. I am self-motivated and have the ability and discipline to work as part of a team or on own initiative as required. I’m friendly and outgoing, with a passion for helping others, and always act in a sensitive and diplomatic manner. I am Computer literate (GNVQ qualified) with knowledge of a range of software applications, including Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint etc. Additionally, the training I have received at Halesowen College has given me the theoretical background needed enabling me to understand and provide for children within my care. I am able to prioritise my workload and I work well under pressure. Overall I am very flexible, adaptable.

Within my recent and previous roles I have gained experience of a variety of duties. These include dealing with the parent both within an office environment and within a communal situation. I always welcome visitors in a warm and friendly manner whilst maintaining an air of professionalism. I am able to handle enquiries efficiently and with tact and diplomacy. I have also had responsibility for Supporting the children’s care and Administering medication to pupils and appropriate record keeping following set procedure. I have learned to be patient, methodical, efficient and to support all children individual needs. I was also responsible for the verbal and written feedback given to management and parents regarding the children under my responsibility. I have experience of providing support for pupils on a 1:1 basis and with small groups for which I have been responsible for supporting pupils with special needs, planning, preparation delivery and assessment of activities ensuring their safety at all time.

Additionally, I believe this observed and vital knowledge and skill that I have acquired during this time will give me with an ideal foundation for this post.

As well as paid work I have also run a rainbow groups on a weekly basis. My role includes all aspects of running the group e.g. money management planning, recording, outdoor/indoor activities, trip, liaison with parents etc. Above all, I wish to help young people learn, finding my experiences so far, equally enjoyable and rewarding. I enjoy working as a team, with both staff and pupils and I am keen to commit myself to this role.

Conclusively, I believe my personal statement demonstrate that I have the necessary skills and experience for looking after children and commitment will support me in this demanding role.
